FLORIDA TODAY, Thursday, October 22, 1998 3B Cocoa resident Darrin Crittington dies DEATH NOTICE Brevard County in 1976 from West Palm Beach. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Lucy Moore; son, Alvin Moore; stepdaughter, Kathy Elwell; stepsons, John Elwell and Frank Elwell; sisters, Karen Bear and Cindy Ricker; brother, Clifford Moore; and two grandchildren. No calling hours or services are scheduled. Indian River Cremations Inc. in Vero Beach is in charge of arrangements.

Calling hours will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Stone Funeral Home in Cocoa. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday at Zion Orthodox Primitive Baptist Church in Cocoa. After graduation, he joined the Army where he remained for the next seven years until he received a medical discharge. "He had a good personality and was always nice to everyone, people seemed to really like him," his father said. "He was a very nice young man." Mr. Crittington was a member of First Baptist Church of Temple Terrance in Tampa.

He enjoyed baseball, basketball and fishing. In addition to his father, other survivors include his sons, Darrin Mr. Houston was a member of VFW Post 4228 in Titusville, American Legion Post 359 in Port St. John, Moose Lodge 2304, Elks Lodge 2694 in South Orlando and North End Social Club in North Attleboro. Survivors include his wife, Cora Houston of Port St.

John; sons, Raymond Houston of Port St. John and Norman Clark of Pawtucket; sister, Norma Paige of Keene, N.H.; stepmother, Fran Houston of North Attleboro; and three grandchildren. No calling hours are scheduled. Services are at 10 a.m. today at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville.

Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to American Legion Post 359, 7260 S. U.S. 1, Bellwood, FL 32780.

NORMAN MOORE MICCO Norman E. Moore, 65, retired from the Coast Guard, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Sebastian River Medical Center. Mr. Moore was born in Lakemore, Ohio.

SARAH HARPER WEST MELBOURNE Sarah Jane Harper, 89, a retired grocery clerk for Kroger in West Virginia, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, at home. Mrs. Harper was born in Frame, W.Va. She came to Brevard County in 1967 from Charleston, W.Va.

Survivors include her daughter, Annetta Shultz of West Melbourne; son, Russell Harper of West Melbourne; sister, Helen Reese of Pinch, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Crittington was born in Cocoa and was a lifelong resident of Brevard County. He graduated from the old Monroe High School in 1979. "During high school he was in the ROTC, where I think he realized he wanted to make the Army a career," said his father, Willie Crittington of Titusville. Chapklin, 90, a retired nanny in New York, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at The Arbors at Melbourne. Mrs. Chapklin was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She came to Brevard County in 1994 from Carle Place, N.Y.

She was Episcopalian and was a member of the church in Carle Place. Survivors include her son, George Chapklin of Melbourne; and two grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home in Palm Bay. A Prayer service will be at 6 p.m.

18, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach. Mrs. Frishberg was born in New York City. She came to Brevard County in 1990 from New York. She was Jewish.

Sykes Creek Merritt Island, FL 32952. JAMES HOUSTON PORT ST. JOHN James F. Houston, 71, a retired foreman for Englehard Industries in Massachusetts, died Friday, Oct. 16, at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville.

Mr. Houston was born in Pawtucket, R.I. He came to Brevard County in 1990 from North Attleboro, Mass. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired as sergeant first class and was called out of retirement for the Vietnam War.
